Candice is celebrating her seven-year anniversary at Availity this November. As an Information Security Risk Analyst IV, Candice plays an important role within the Information Security Department’s risk and governance team. One of Candice’s roles is to focus on training and spreading awareness of our cybersmart behaviors. She takes pride in knowing that what she does is an important part of ensuring the company’s overall success.
Prior to joining Availity, Candice spent 20 years serving as a member of the United States Army, which helped to shape her both professionally and personally. During her time in the military, she specialized in information technology, which included an assignment running the Computer Network Defense team. This is where she got her first taste of the security world, which she loved from the start. Candice took this passion and expertise with her outside of the military, working for a couple of other companies before finding her way to Availity.
Candice believes that every task, regardless of how small it may seem, is part of a large puzzle that makes up what Availity is and does. She finds the opportunity for growth as the most fulfilling part of her job. Being a part of the expansion of the risk and governance team has been both inspiring and satisfying because it has allowed her to help implement tasks and initiatives that make the company better.
Candice also recognizes the value that Availity leadership places on employee health and well-being. She shares, “Availity leadership recognizes that associates do better when they feel appreciated and valued, so take advantage of what Availity offers outside of your day-to-day job. Get involved with your co-workers by participating in TrAvaility or a workout class. These activities allow us to break away from the day-to-day grind and socialize with others to build relationships.”
When Candice is off the job, she reads a lot of Dr. Joe Dispenza books for personal growth; “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself” is her favorite. She also loves watching any Tom Cruise movie, especially The Last Samurai and Top Gun. In fact, Candice even has a Tom Cruise themed Christmas tree!
Her family consists of her three children, a daughter-in-law, a grandson “Maxwell Maverick,” and cat named Raven, who she got from an Availity co-worker. Her favorite food is Nilaga – a simple Filipino beef soup.
Thank you for your seven years, Candice!
