Associate Spotlight - Victoria Harrell
8.27.2020 By Availity
PDM, EDI, DDE…these are just some of the acronyms Victoria Harrell had to learn when she joined Availity’s Marketing and Communications team seven months ago. As a Customer Communications Manager, Victoria’s job is to market Availity’s Provider Data Management (PDM) and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solutions to our customers through digital marketing and email communications. She admits to being a bit overwhelmed with all of healthcare’s acronyms when she first came on board.
But she also knew she had a lot to contribute. Before joining Availity, Victoria ran digital campaigns for several business-to-consumer (B2C) organizations and believed Availity could benefit by incorporating more consumer-oriented strategies into email marketing campaigns. She worked collaboratively with her marketing peers to reduce copy and develop more multimedia-rich content like graphics, animations and videos.
The changes saw immediate results. Victoria and her team met their quarterly PDM attestation goals, as 45% of providers at one large health plan updated their data using the Availity Portal in one quarter.
Victoria is proud of what she’s been able to achieve with the team in such a short amount of time, and appreciates her manager for “taking the training wheels off” and allowing her the creative freedom to try new things.
Getting involved in the Availity Community
When asked what advice she would offer new or prospective associates, Victoria recommends being curious about what others are working on and getting involved in the company’s many volunteer activities.
She recently joined Availity’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, which is a group of volunteer associates who are helping the company implement policies and activities to move Availity’s diversity initiatives forward. Compared to other companies that she has worked for, Victoria believes Availity is ahead of the curve. “Availity is like a breath of fresh air.”
“I’m proud to work for a company that creates a culture that is welcoming and inclusive”
When she is not writing emails and weathering a global pandemic, Victoria enjoys going to the beach and fishing with her grandparents. But for now, you can find her curled up with a good book.
